"These items (above) appeared in the Anacortes American, (Anacortes, WA) in August of 1955. "

"Captain Robert W. (Bob) Lowman and the Queenfish made a visit to Anacortes (his hometown) enroute to Seattle’s big annual event, the Seafair. Bob Lowman was 35 here in this picture. At 34 he was the youngest submarine skipper in the Navy’s history in 1954.       (I don't know about since.)"

"Bob returned to the Pacific Northwest to retire. He died in 1994 in Alderwood Manor, WA. He survived by his widow, Margaret and four children".>

" Enclosed is an anecdote from Margaret Bell Lowman recalling the time when Bob was given command of the Queenfish. Also, I had to insert the last line on the letter to the editor as it was cut in half. "Webmaster's note: It should be Lt.Cmdr. for this time period.
